Do you like the idea of shaping the future of mobility? Join us at the Institute of Flight Systems and Automatic Control (FSR) in cooperation with Boeing Global Services (BGS)! In a research cooperation, we work on mission and fleet management concepts for the operation of electrical VTOL-capable aircraft (eVTOLs) in the context of Urban Air Mobility (UAM). The most promising UAM use case in the near term appears to be airport shuttles that provide seamless access to and from the airport. Your aim in this thesis will be the development of a Concept of Operations (ConOps) for eVTOL flights in the vicinity of the airport.
The first step will cover research on the challenging operating environment that eVTOL operations face close to legacy aviation around the airport. From that, requirements shall be derived and existing UAM ConOps shall be analysed in order to develop a new ConOps specifically for the area around the Frankfurt Airport. The thesis closes with a comprehensive documentation and presentation of the results that include appropriate visualisations to enable a discussion about the topic with stakeholders.
