ADP for Thermo-CFD Simulation in OPENFOAM environment at STFS

  • Hi this is Sritej, a Master's Student I have an ADP topic Thermo-CFD Simulation in OPENFOAM environment at STFS. The advert will be updated by me and its an Aerospace Engineering / Mechnical Engineering Thema. We want only interested contributors/nerds:evil: in Turbulence modelling , a bit C++ programming, OpenFOAM introduction with ThermoHeat tutorials . All nationalities are welcome. The team has only one member and we look for 3 more. Please comment only if interested and also your OPENFOAM Skill Level from 1-5 ( its sure yes if you have passed Intro to Turblence by Prof. Oberlack and Prof Christian Hesse's Modelling of Turbulent Flows )......

  • Hi Sritej,

I am really interested in joining your ADP on Thermo-CFD Simulation in OpenFOAM. I have a strong background in fluid modeling and CFD and have taken several numerical simulation courses from Prof. Kummer, including high-accuracy methods. I also completed Advanced Fluid Mechanics with Prof. Oberlack.

This project sounds like a great fit for my skills and interests, and would love to contribute. Feel free to reach out to me for further details. You can contact me at jan.hebenstreit@stud.tu-darmstadt.de. Looking forward to hearing from you!

  • Hi, I'm Jisu Park.

I am looking for an ADP related to CFD, specifically using OPENFOAM.

I am currently studying mechanical engineering and it's my first Semester for Master.

Since January 2024, I have been simulating liquid vaporization using COMSOL Multiphysics as a HiWi at the TTD Institute.

Although I have no prior experience with OPENFOAM, I am eager to learn and contribute to the team.

I am currently leading another ADP, so I will be available to start a new ADP from June.

I would love to have a coffee chat with you! :)

    Please contact me at jisu.park@stud.tu-darmstadt.de.

    Best regards,
    Jisu Park

  • Hi Sritej,

Thanks for reaching out! I’d rate my OpenFOAM experience at 1, as I havent worked with it directly before. However, I have a strong theoretical background in CFD from my masters coursework, and my bachelors thesis was in aerodynamics, where I focused on numerical flow theory.

Beyond theory, I also have practical experience in multi-phase flow and automatic mesh adaptation, which involved a lot of coding. I am highly ambitious and love learning new things, which is why I am eager to get hands-on with OpenFOAM. Since I plan to use it for my final masters thesis, I am fully committed to becoming proficient.

I’d be really happy if you’d still consider me for the team, and I’ll do my best to contribute and learn quickly. Looking forward to your response! :)

    Best,

    Jan Hebenstreit

  • Hi Sritej,

I'm currently an international master student in aerospace, I will be starting a hiwi position next April at STFS doing Hydrogen Engine CFD simulations, and I also have a decent amount of working hours doing cfd simulations on the Ansys fluent software, my current OpenFOAM skill level is 1, as I didn't need to use the program before, but I wanted to find the opportunity to learn and apply my previous knowledge to it.

I can share more information with you in case you want to via email: sofia.holguin@stud.tu-darmstadt.de

    Best regards,

    Sofia

  • Hi Sritej,

I am currently in my 5th semester of the M.Sc. Aerospace Engineering program with a strong interest in CFD and computational modeling. I have completed all relevant fluid dynamics courses, including Modeling of Turbulent Flow, Advanced Fluid Mechanics, and Introduction to Turbulence. Moreover, I have previous work experience in the cfd domain where I extensively used ansys fluent and ansys CFX.

This ADP aligns with my goals, and I am eager to contribute. My current OpenFOAM skill level is 1, but I am actively learning and improving. Since I have completed all my coursework, I can dedicate significant time to this ADP.

I would be grateful for the opportunity to join your team and will do my best to contribute effectively.

    Looking forward to your response.

    Best regards,
    Hiten Kyada

  • Hi Sritej,

this is Ahmadreza, and I'm also a master's student in mechanical engineering. I'm really interested in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and simulation. I have extensive experience in simulation using Ansys Fluent and programming in MATLAB and Python.

Last semester, I took Introduction to Turbulent Flows with Prof. Oberlack and passed with a grade of 1.0.

I'm very interested in this ADP; however, I don't have any experience with OpenFOAM yet. But I'm fully ready to gain experience with it.

Since I will be doing another ADP next semester, please let me know when you plan to start and when you expect to finish.

For further communication, you can reach me via email:

I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

    Best regards,
