Dear students,
the tutorial ‘Software Engineering for Machine Learning Applications in Manufacturing’ (TUCaN: 16-09-4274-tt) will be offered again in this winter semester! 🧑💻✨
What you can expect:
- Practical projects with three-axis CNC milling machines: You will work directly on modern CNC milling machines and experience how machine learning is used in production.
- Career preparation: Develop software solutions exactly as they will be used later in the job.
- Theory and practice combined: Learn how to use machine learning methods and professional software development, both theoretically and practically, in an implementation project.
Prerequisites:
- Basic knowledge of Python is required. Lack of prior knowledge will lead to a higher familiarization effort, but references for familiarization before start of the tutorial will be provided.
- You will need your own Laptop/Mobile PC during the tutorial.
👉 Register now! The tutorial is restricted to a maximum amount of 15 students. If you are interested, please send an email to tutorium-seml@ptw.tu-darmstadt.de first. As soon as you receive a positive response from the organizers by e-mail, you can register in TUCaN.
The tutorial will take place in Winter Semester 2025/2026, and you can earn 4 CP. The tutorial consists of a theoretical and practical part:
- Theoretical part from 17.11.2025 till 24.11.2025 (full time)
- Practical part from 25.11.2025 bis 09.01.2026 (part time)
- Exam 12.01.2026 (subject to change)

Liebe Studierende,
das Tutorium "Softwareentwicklung für Anwendungen des maschinellen Lernens in der Produktion" (TUCaN: 16-09-4274-tt) wird im Wintersemester wieder angeboten! 🧑💻✨
Was euch erwartet:
- Praxisnahe Projekte mit Dreiachs-CNC Fräsmaschinen: Ihr arbeitet direkt an modernen CNC-Fräsmaschinen und erlebt, wie maschinelles Lernen in der Produktion eingesetzt wird.
- Berufsvorbereitung: Entwickelt Softwarelösungen genau so, wie es später im Job gemacht wird.
- Theorie und Praxis vereint: Lernt den Umgang mit Methoden des maschinellen Lernens und der professionellen Softwareentwicklung, sowohl theoretisch als auch praktisch, in einem Umsetzungsprojekt.
Voraussetzungen:
- Grundkenntnisse in Python sind erforderlich. Fehlende Vorkenntnisse führen zu einem höheren Einarbeitungsaufwand, aber Referenzen zur Einarbeitung werden bereitgestellt.
- Eigener Laptop/Mobiler PC während des gesamten Tutoriums.

Das Tutorium findet im Wintersemester 2025/26 statt und nach erfolgreichem Abschluss erhaltet ihr 4 CP. Es gliedert sich sowohl in einen Theorie- und Praxisteil.
- Theorieteil vom 17.11.2025 bis 24.11.2025 (Vollzeit)
- Praxisteil vom 25.11.2025 bis 09.01.2026 (Teilzeit)
- Schriftliche Klausur am 12.01.2026 (vorbehaltlich Änderungen)
