Liebe Studierende,
Wir bieten im kommenden Sommersemester wieder das Tutorium MACH4.0 – Machine Learning und Data Science in der Zerspanung an, wofür ich an dieser Stelle Werbung machen möchte.
Hauptziel ist die Vermittlung und Anwendung moderner Methoden aus dem Bereich Data Science für die Auswertung von Produktionsdaten einer Werkzeugmaschine. Während des Tutoriums wird auf Basis echter Prozessdaten einer Werkzeugmaschine die Überwachung von Bauteilqualität mit Algorithmen aus dem Bereich des maschinellen Lernens umgesetzt. Dabei wird der gesamte Ablauf von Problemstellung, über Vernetzung im Rahmen von Industrie 4.0, der Fertigung der Bauteile, bis hin zur Anwendung der Modelle thematisiert.
Das Tutorium findet im Sommersemester 2026 vom 30.03.2026 - 10.04.2025 in Vollzeit und Präsenz von 8:30 - 16:00 Uhr statt. An den Osterfeiertagen inkl. dem Dienstag nach Ostern (07.04.) finden keine Vorlesungen statt.
Anschließend startet eine Data Challenge, die als Gruppenarbeit im Zeitraum vom 10.04.2026 - 08.05.2026 nach eigenem Zeitaufwand bearbeitet werden kann.
Die Ergebnisse der Data Challenge werden abschließend in einem Kolloqium präsentiert.
Die Vorlesungen werden in deutsch gehalten, das Kursmaterial wird in englisch bereitgestellt.

Dear students,
In the coming summer semester, we are again offering the tutorial MACH4.0 -Machine Learning and Data Science in Metal Cutting Manufacturing, which I would like to advertise at this point.
The main objective is to teach and apply modern methods from the field of data science for the evaluation of production data from a machine tool. During the tutorial, the monitoring of component quality is implemented using algorithms from the field of machine learning on the basis of real process data from a machine tool. The entire process from problem definition, networking in the context of Industry 4.0, the production of workpieces to the application of the models will be discussed.
The tutorial will take place in the summer semester 2026 from 30.03.2026 - 10.04.2026 in full-time and presence from 8:30 - 16:00. There will be no lectures during the Easter holidays, including the Tuesday after Easter (April 7).
This will be followed by a Data Challenge, which can be worked on as group work in the period from 10.04.2026 - 10.05.2026 at your own pace.
The results of the Data Challenge will then be presented in a colloquium.
The lectures will be held in German, the course material will be provided in English.
