I’m a master’s student at the Institute of Flight Systems (FSR), writing my thesis on the visual design of large-area Head-Up Displays for future flight decks.
As part of the work I’m running a short preference study. Participants compare different design variants for HUD elements such as traffic, terrain, weather, runway and flight-path guidance, etc. and indicate which they find clearest and most intuitive.
The survey is anonymous, takes about 15 minutes, and is best completed on a PC (it involves comparing images side by side). It’s aimed at pilots, aviation professionals, and laymen. Pilot input in particular would be extremely valuable for the results.
