Hello everyone,
I’m a master’s student at the Institute of Flight Systems (FSR), writing my thesis on the visual design of large-area Head-Up Displays for future flight decks.
As part of the work I’m running a short preference study. Participants compare different design variants for HUD elements such as traffic, terrain, weather, runway and flight-path guidance, etc. and indicate which they find clearest and most intuitive.
The survey is anonymous, takes about 15 minutes, and is best completed on a PC (it involves comparing images side by side). It’s aimed at pilots, aviation professionals, and laymen. Pilot input in particular would be extremely valuable for the results.

Please feel free to send this survey to pilots or aviation expert friends.
I’m happy to answer any questions about the project in this thread. Thank you very much for your time.
Enzo
