Bereits seit mehr als 100 Jahren besteht die Akademische Fliegergruppe Darmstadt (Akaflieg) als studentische Hochschulgruppe an der TU. In dieser Zeit wurden mehr als 40 verschiedene Flugzeuge, die meisten als reine Segelflugzeuge, selbst konstruiert, gebaut und geflogen.
Durch deine Mitgliedschaft in der Akaflieg hast du die Möglichkeit, das im Studium Gelernte praktisch anzuwenden oder dein Wissen zu vertiefen.
Das kannst du bei uns machen:
- Aerodynamische und strukturelle Auslegung eines Segelflugzeuges
- Simulationen (vor allem Strömungs- und Flugmechanische)
- Konfiguration mechanischer Steuerungen
- Forschungsprojekte mit dem Segelflugzeug als Versuchsträger
- Fliegen (bei uns hast du unter anderem die Möglichkeit die Segelflugpilotenlizenz zu machen)
- Erlangen praktischer Erfahrungen im Flugzeugbau
- Wissenschaftlicher Austausch mit anderen Akafliegs deutschlandweit und verschiedenster Kooperationen, zum Beispiel mit dem Deutschen Luft- und Raumfahrtzentrum (DLR)

The Akaflieg has existed as a student group at the TU for more than 100 years. During this time, they have designed, built and flown more than 40 different airplanes, most of them pure gliders.
Your membership of the Akaflieg gives you the opportunity to apply what you have learned during your studies in practice or to deepen your knowledge.
This is what you can do with us:
- Aerodynamic and structural design of a glider
- Simulations (especially fluid mechanics and flight mechanics)
- Configuration of mechanical controls
- Research projects with the glider as a test vehicle
- Flying (among other things, you will have the opportunity to obtain a glider pilot's license)
- Gain practical experience in aircraft construction
- Scientific exchange with other Akafliegs throughout Germany and various cooperations, for example with the German Aerospace Center (DLR)
